The social evolution, accompanied by the technological one, outlines a modern development of the new human type, therefore the discipline of physical education must offer students the opportunity to train, participating in a wide variety of physical activities that balance the study periods of the other disciplines in the education plan. At the same time, we can affirm that physical education (both as a curricular field and as an extracurricular activity) must become the main means of capitalizing on free time. The importance of practicing physical activities during free time is one of the main concerns of the specialists in our field, who state that physical education, through its specific means, constitutes a form of improving students, having considerable influences from an instructive-educational point of view, but also being the main means of developing the physical condition so necessary at this age. In the present research, carried out within the State University of Physical Education and Sport, we aimed to analyze the extracurricular activities in the field of physical culture and identify their main directions, the profile of the beneficiaries, the profile of the teachers/coaches who provide this type of activities, the forms and methods of realization, as well as the common aspects and differences attested in the activity of extracurricular service providers in the field of physical culture.
