Abstract

This article is dedicated to both surface and groundwater. Also in this article special attention is paid to the biosphere, but also to factors, causes, consequences and some measures to protect against water pollution. Water quality degradation is becoming more pronounced, and efforts to reduce water degradation through high-tech solutions are effective in reducing the impact of threats, but at a cost that can be an economic burden. Let us understand, in such a situation, that the degradation of water acts, in the long run, like a silent bomb, which causes dramatic losses and has incalculable implications for the future evolution of mankind. Overcoming this global crisis of water insecurity, both for humans and for biodiversity, requires prevention, rather than simply compensating for threats after they have arisen. Pollution prevention is paramount. This principle is valid for water, being important to prevent pollution of rivers and lakes. In the absence of preventive measures, treatment must be resorted to, which can be extremely expensive, complicated and always with unwanted risks and side effects.
